The Day-Date was launched in 1956 as the first wristwatch to show both the date and the day of the week spelled out in full, and it is made only in gold and platinum. Its 39mm case is crafted in 18k yellow gold. The gold is cast in Rolex's own foundry, which controls its colour and quality.
The dark mother-of-pearl Jubilee diamond dial is cut from natural mother-of-pearl, so every dial has its own pattern, and has diamond hour markers. It is framed by a bezel set with brilliant-cut diamonds. The case is paired with the Pearlmaster bracelet with rounded five-piece links and a concealed Crownclasp.
