The Datejust introduced the self-winding wristwatch with a date window in 1945, and the date sits under the Cyclops lens at 3 o'clock. The 31mm case is made of Oystersteel and 18k Everose gold. Rolex has combined steel and gold this way since 1933 and calls it Rolesor.
On the front, the mother-of-pearl diamond dial is cut from natural mother-of-pearl, so every dial has its own pattern, and has diamond hour markers. It is framed by a fluted 18k Everose gold bezel. The case is paired with the three-piece-link Oyster bracelet.
