The Rolex Steel and Everose Gold Datejust 31 carries reference 278271. The Datejust introduced the self-winding wristwatch with a date window in 1945, and the date sits under the Cyclops lens at 3 o'clock. Its 31mm case is crafted in Oystersteel and 18k Everose gold. Rolex has combined steel and gold this way since 1933 and calls it Rolesor.
Its dark rhodium index dial uses applied index hour markers. Around the dial sits a fluted 18k Everose gold bezel. It is worn on the three-piece-link Oyster bracelet.
The movement is the in-house Rolex caliber 2236, which runs for about 55 hours once fully wound. Every movement of this generation is tested as a Superlative Chronometer, accurate to within −2/+2 seconds a day. The screw-down crown and sapphire crystal keep it water resistant to 100 meters.
