Reference 228235 is the Rolex Everose Gold Day-Date 40. The Day-Date was launched in 1956 as the first wristwatch to show both the date and the day of the week spelled out in full, and it is made only in gold and platinum. The 40mm case is made of 18k Everose gold. Everose is Rolex's own pink gold alloy, made in its foundry so the colour does not fade over time.
Its Sundust bevelled Roman dial is finished in Sundust, Rolex's soft pink-copper tone, and uses Roman numerals. The dial is surrounded by a fluted 18k Everose gold bezel. The watch is fitted with the President bracelet with semi-circular three-piece links and a concealed Crownclasp.
Inside is the Rolex manufacture caliber 3255, a self-winding movement with a power reserve of about 70 hours. It is certified as a Superlative Chronometer, Rolex's standard of accuracy within −2/+2 seconds per day once cased. The screw-down crown and sapphire crystal keep it water resistant to 100 meters.
