The Day-Date was launched in 1956 as the first wristwatch to show both the date and the day of the week spelled out in full, and it is made only in gold and platinum. The 36mm case is made of 18k Everose gold. Everose is a pink gold alloy patented by Rolex that keeps its warm colour for years.
Its chocolate index dial uses applied index hour markers. Around the dial sits a fluted 18k Everose gold bezel. The watch is fitted with the President bracelet with semi-circular three-piece links and a concealed Crownclasp.
The movement is the in-house Rolex caliber 3155, which runs for about 48 hours once fully wound. The movement is a COSC-certified chronometer, known for its reliability. The screw-down crown and sapphire crystal keep it water resistant to 100 meters.
