Reference 116503 is the Rolex Steel and Yellow Gold Daytona 40. The Daytona has been Rolex's racing chronograph since 1963, built to time laps and measure average speed with its tachymetric scale. The 40mm case is made of Oystersteel and 18k yellow gold. This steel-and-gold combination is what Rolex calls Rolesor, a signature of the brand since 1933.
Its dark mother-of-pearl gold crystal dial is cut from natural mother-of-pearl, so every dial has its own pattern. The dial is surrounded by a yellow gold bezel engraved with a tachymetric scale. The case is paired with the three-piece-link Oyster bracelet.
Inside is the Rolex manufacture caliber 4130, a self-winding movement with a power reserve of about 72 hours. The movement is a COSC-certified chronometer, known for its reliability. The screw-down crown and sapphire crystal keep it water resistant to 100 meters.
