The Rolex Yellow Gold Daytona 40 (Ref. 116508) is part of the Cosmograph Daytona line. The Daytona has been Rolex's racing chronograph since 1963, built to time laps and measure average speed with its tachymetric scale. This reference has a 40mm case in 18k yellow gold. The gold is cast in Rolex's own foundry, which controls its colour and quality.
On the front, the white index dial uses applied index hour markers. The dial is surrounded by a yellow gold bezel engraved with a tachymetric scale. It is worn on the three-piece-link Oyster bracelet.
The movement is the in-house Rolex caliber 4130, which runs for about 72 hours once fully wound. It is an officially certified chronometer, tested by COSC for accuracy. The screw-down crown and sapphire crystal keep it water resistant to 100 meters.
