This Rolex Yellow Gold Daytona 40, reference 116588, is a member of the Cosmograph Daytona family. The Daytona has been Rolex's racing chronograph since 1963, built to time laps and measure average speed with its tachymetric scale. It has a 40mm case in 18k yellow gold. The gold is cast in Rolex's own foundry, which controls its colour and quality.
The eye of the tiger dial sets the tone for the whole watch. It is framed by a bezel set with brilliant-cut diamonds. The watch is fitted with the black Oysterflex bracelet, made of flexible metal blades coated in high-performance elastomer.
Inside is the Rolex manufacture caliber 4130, a self-winding movement with a power reserve of about 72 hours. It is an officially certified chronometer, tested by COSC for accuracy. The screw-down crown and sapphire crystal keep it water resistant to 100 meters.
