The Rolex Daytona 40 Steel and Yellow Gold (Ref. 126503) is part of the Cosmograph Daytona line. The Daytona has been Rolex's racing chronograph since 1963, built to time laps and measure average speed with its tachymetric scale. This reference has a 40mm case in Oystersteel and 18k yellow gold. This steel-and-gold combination is what Rolex calls Rolesor, a signature of the brand since 1933.
The golden index dial uses applied index hour markers. It is framed by a yellow gold bezel engraved with a tachymetric scale. The case is paired with the three-piece-link Oyster bracelet.
The movement is the in-house Rolex caliber 4131, which runs for about 72 hours once fully wound. Every movement of this generation is tested as a Superlative Chronometer, accurate to within −2/+2 seconds a day. The screw-down crown and sapphire crystal keep it water resistant to 100 meters.
